Amos Long

Amos Delone Long, age 78, of Canton, passed away on January 3, 2024. Amos lived a life devoted to family and he always left a lasting impression on those who knew him. As an avid coin collector, he found joy in the small details of life. When he wasn't collecting coins, he enjoyed hunting deer and bargaining for a good deal on anything, even on items he didn't need at the moment. Amos was also a true entrepreneur who ran his own successful tire business for most of his working life. Amos also enjoyed traveling. He was always ready to go on vacation with family, visiting sites in the US and various international destinations. In his travels from the Aussie outback to the streets of Spain and the lands of Asia, he had many stories to share. He enjoyed himself in all of these destinations. The more he traveled the more he wanted to see. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Amos' faith played an important role in his life. His faith made him who he was-someone who approached life with kindness, love, and a sense of commitment. Amos was a generous and warm source of support for his family and friends. He was someone you could count on to help you no matter what the need was. He will be dearly missed. Amos is survived by his wife, Linda; his children: Suzanne (Christopher) Abellera, Derrick (Katherine) Long, Rebecca (Erik) Peterson, and Timothy (Samantha) Long; his grandchildren: Alex Peterson, Anthony Long, Alyssa Long, Alayna Peterson, Rachel Abellera, Katelyn Abellera, Sophia Long, Gianna Long, and Nicholas Long; and his brother, Edward (Janis) Long. He was predeceased by eleven of his siblings. The visitation for Amos Long will take place on Sunday, January 14, from 2 - 8 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd. (four blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak, Michigan. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, January 15 from 9:00 a.m. The memorial service for Amos Long will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and can be viewed online live at https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/index.php?data=MTcwNDU3NjUwODI4OTIwMiZvbmVyb29tLWFkbWluJnZpZXdfYnV0dG9u followed by a 12:30 p.m. burial at Cadillac Memorial.
