Gerald E. McWilliams

Gerald Edward McWilliams, age 95, was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 26, 1927. "Jerry", died on June 18th, 2023, in Frisco, Texas. Beloved husband of the late Petronella McWilliams. Loving father of Kathy (Dave) Angiolet and the late Holly Ann McWilliams. Grandfather of Brian (Katia) Angiolet, Mark (Carrie) Angiolet and Jill (Joshua) Schmidt. Great-grandfather of Gianna and Luke Angiolet and Lane and Eva Schmidt. Gerald came from an Irish Catholic family and was the second oldest of six boys. He was a child of The Great Depression. He left school in the eighth grade and began working to help his family during those hard times. Because of this it gave him an undeniable work ethic and the desire and drive to make money so he could provide for himself and his family as well as his friends or people in need. He was generous. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947 as a Private First Class and Medical Surgical Technician stationed in Japan. In 1951 Gerald married the love of his life, Petronella. They began their family with the birth of their first daughter, Kathleen, in 1952. And in 1965 they welcomed their second daughter, Holly. In the 1950's he started his first company that became the foundation of Universal Cutting Tools, a successful international business that continues to flourish to this day. Although he only had an eighth-grade education, he was always seeking to learn more about everything, either through direct or indirect observation and experience. He was proud of his Empirical education. He fulfilled another dream and got his pilot's license in his mid-fifties and took to the air. He will be remembered for his brilliant mind, quick wit, and unending great stories. He was strong-willed but soft-hearted at the same time. Gerald was truly one of a kind. He will be missed. The family will be receiving guests at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors (705 W. Eleven Mile Rd, Royal Oak, MI) on Sunday, June 25, 2023 and Monday, June 26, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary on Monday. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica Catholic Church (2100 Twelve Mile Rd., Royal Oak, MI) in state 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10:00 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen at www.cskdetroit.org.
