James Wesley Davey

James "Jim" Wesley Davey Age 90 was born in Warren Township, June 21,1927. He died November 13, 2017 residing in the Utica-Shelby Township area since 1957. Beloved husband of Vera (Harbrecht). Jim and Vera were married at Trinity Lutheran Church,Centerline, Michigan, September 16,1949. His late parents John Jacob and Vivian Naomi Davey (Poe). Loving father of Linda (Keith) Spycher, James (Sherrie), and Joanne Busch. Dear grandfather of Ernest Spycher, Jacqueline Spycher, James Davey, Natalie Busch, John Busch, Danielle Davey, and Jennifer Israel. Great grandfather of Alexia Busch, Tyler Rowland, Victoria Parisi, Dakota Parisi and Brooklynn Spycher. Dear brother of the late William (Josie) Davey and the late Harvey (Betty) Davey. Jim graduated from Lincoln High School class of 1944 and joined the United States Navy after graduation. He served during WW II assigned to LST 880 engaged in the battles for Okinawa and Hiroshima, Japan. Jim retired in 1998 after 42 years as a wood model maker at the Warren General Motors Tech Center. Jim was Past President of the Utica Shelby Rotary Club and a member for 58 years with perfect attendance. As a Rotarian, Jim was the recipient of the distinguished Paul Harris Award. As a volunteer, Jim was involved with the yearly upkeep of Camp Rotary also serving as its Treasurer and working many hours for the benefit of disabled children. Active member at Trinity Lutheran Church, Utica, Michigan. Member of the V.F.W. in New Baltimore Post Lempke Blackwell #7578. Family will receive friends Sunday November 19th, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd, (3 blocks east of Van Dyke on the north side) Utica, Michigan. In State Monday November 20th, at 10:00 a.m. until time of his Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 45160 VanDyke, Utica, Michigan. Jim will be buried at Christian Memorial Cultural Cemetery with full Military Honors.
