Luann Kopietz

Luann Kopietz (neé Rogers), 61, of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away April 14, 2020 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital from pancreatic cancer. Luann was born April 29, 1958, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to William Rogers and Gertrude David. She was a graduate of Romeo High School and worked for ten years as a Logistics Manager at Blue Water Trucking. On December 18, 1982 and July 27, 1993, respectively, she welcomed her two beautiful daughters Laura and Colleen, who were the most important part of her life. She married Tim Kopietz of Utica, Michigan on May 25, 2013 in Shelby Township. She loved Tim deeply and had the most fun with him. Luann loved life and constantly pursued happiness. She laughed loud and often. She was beautiful and compassionate. She enjoyed spending time with friends and visiting over a glass of wine. She was an amazing cook and loved trying new recipes and cooking for her family. Her recipes will be handed down for generations and treated as the gold that they are. She loved to travel and feel the sun on her face and to be outside. Luann was a loving wife and a beautiful friend. She was an incredible mom and was endlessly proud of her daughters. She taught them to dream big and told them their potential was limitless. She adored her grandbabies. She wanted to watch them grow up so badly, and was absolutely relentless in her battle with cancer in the hope that she could do so. In fact, Luann approached her cancer fight the same way she approached life: she was tough, tenacious and the hardest working person many of us have ever known. She will be missed forever by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Luann is survived by her husband, Tim Kopietz; her daughters, Laura You (Victor) of Troy, Michigan and Colleen Raleigh of Warren, Michigan; her grandchildren Ethan and Lily You and Emma Kopietz; her step-father, Charles David; her step-children Christopher Kopietz, Patrick Kopietz and Morgan Kopietz; her three brothers, Richard Rogers (Candy) of Richmond, Lawrence Rogers (Rene) of Traverse City, and Bill Rogers (Kim) of Almont; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother and father, her sister Concha Rumph, her brother-in-law David Rumph, her niece Casey Rumph, her brother-in-law Tom Kopietz, and many others - there is quite a reunion going on right now. A viewing and funeral service for immediate family only is scheduled for April 17th at Wm. Sullivan and Sons in Utica, Michigan. Pastor Jeffrey Draeger will officiate. A memorial will follow at a later date. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Wm. Sullivan and Sons in Utica. Alternatively, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Luann's name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Sky Foundation, Inc., two organizations close to her heart.
