Nels Mandrup-Poulsen

Nels Mandrup-Poulsen, passed away on July 3, 2023, at the age of 64. Nels was born on August 8, 1958, in Royal Oak, Michigan, the cherished son of Jorgen and Esther (Wiggers) Mandrup-Poulsen. Nels's journey through life was filled with remarkable achievements and experiences. After graduating from High School, he felt the call of duty and embarked on a noble path by joining the United States Navy, where he devoted six years of his life to serving his country with honor and dedication. After leaving the Navy Nels went on to graduate from a Heating up Cooling Tech Institute and started his own heating and cooling company. One of his greatest joys was being his own boss. On April 15, 1978, fate brought him together with the love of his life, Kathleen Baker, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Their union blossomed into a profound and enduring love that became the foundation of a beautiful family and a life well-lived. Nels possessed a deep appreciation for nature and the great outdoors. He found solace and happiness in the serenity of his cottage up north, where he created countless cherished memories with family and friends. He was interested in history, especially the Civil War era. Additionally, he had an affinity for collecting coins and stamps, a passion that allowed him to delve into history and various cultures, sparking curiosity and connections with others who shared his interests. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kathleen, who was his steadfast companion and soulmate throughout their journey together. Also left behind are his two sons, Nathaniel and Christian (Amy), whom he loved unconditionally and with whom he shared precious moments and values that will endure in their hearts forever. Furthermore, he is survived by his brother, Jan (Debra), along with his niece and nephew Tracie and Justin with whom he shared a bond of brotherhood and shared experiences. As Nels leaves us, he reunites with his beloved parents, Jorgen and Esther, who preceded him in death. Together, they will watch over their family and friends from the heavens, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. Nels Mandrup-Poulsen will be remembered as a devoted husband, a caring father, a loyal brother, and a true friend. He touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known him.
