Pamela L. Brooks

Pamela Lou Brooks of Shelby Township, Michigan Pamela Lou Brooks, Age 65, passed away July 26, 2024. She was born October 21, 1958 in Big Rapids, Michigan to Carlton and Sally (Freeland) Brooks. Pam was a graduate of Wylie E. Groves High School in Birmingham, Michigan and studied at Western Michigan University before graduating from Macomb Community College. She worked at General Motors and Sears Roebuck in security, and at L'Anse Creuse School District. She loved her daughter, Carissa, more than anything and was a proud parent as well as a loving member of the Brooks Family. Pam will be missed by her daughter Carissa Joy Carpenter (partner, Steve Rief) of Hamtramck, MI; her parents Carl and Sally (Freeland) Brooks of Holt, MI; siblings: Brian (Carol) Brooks of Grandville, MI; Patricia (Douglas) Fries of Cleveland, OH, four nieces and nephews: John Fries (partner, Erin) of Cincinnati, OH; Dana Fries of Ithaca, NY; Sara Brooks of Grandville, MI; Nathan Brooks of Grandville, MI and her dog, Kuhwiyah, who she adopted from Oman. She was preceded in death by her loving brother, Barry Brooks, and her loving grandparents Harry and Betty Bergstrom, and Robert and Frances Freeland. Pam always had a "can do" attitude. There was no project too big or task too small. Pam did it all. She enjoyed her friends and family and stayed in touch with people, even when the distances were huge. Pam was involved in the equestrian community for many years. She competed in A Circuit Hunter/Jumper under her trainer, Mike Sutton, earlier in her life and volunteered at Windermere Equestrian Center and Rattlewood Farms during show season. She was a teacher's aide in her daughter's school to be more involved in the day-to-day school life. Pam was skilled in crafting, including sewing, and had a special talent for making something fun out of whatever materials she found. She also loved traveling - having visited most of the continental US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East. Pam's family and friends will gather Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 10:00 am until a celebration of her life at noon, officiated by Rev Denise Tucker at the Wm Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road, (3 Blks E. of Van Dyke Ave) Utica, MI.
