Virginia Beatrice May

Virginia Beatrice May, age 98, of Vanderbilt, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 2, 2020. She was born November 7, 1921 in Detroit to the late Elmer and Myrtle Weber. Beloved wife of the late Ronald May; loving mother of Ronald (Barbara) May and Alan (Carol) May; proud grandmother of Robert, Terri, Alan, Karin, Amy; great grandmother of Chase, Colton, Chance, Andrew, Evan, Zachary, Kyle, David and Jonathon; great great grandmother of 3; dear sister of Irene Sieloff and the late Melvin Weber, Howard Weber, Joseph Weber, Dorothy Burns and Geraldine Briggs; beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Virginia loved her home up north and enjoyed staying busy by researching her ancestry. She was the family historian, keeping many binders of family records, historical photos, and old letters. She cherished visits from her family and friends, and always had fresh-baked cookies on hand for her grandkids. She often showed her love for her family through her wonderful home-cooked meals, with her hand-rolled German dumpling noodles in chicken broth being a particular favorite. It was a labor of love, and she was happy to do it. Not only did Virginia love her family, but she also loved her country. During World War ll, while her husband was off fighting for freedom in the European Theater, Virginia rolled up her sleeves to serve her country. As a real-life "Rosie the Riveter," Virginia went to work in a factory in Cheyenne, Wyoming making machine guns, as well as aircraft parts in Willow Run, Michigan. She was also a proud member of the "Daughters of the American Revolution, being a direct descendant of a Revolutionary War soldier. She was known for her strength and resolve and was an incredible role model. Above all else, Virginia loved the Lord and lived her life according to His purpose for her. She remained steadfast in His love and modeled that to all who were privileged to know her. Her family and friends rejoice in knowing that there was a glorious reunion with her Heavenly Father and those who preceded her in earthly death. Visitation for extended family on Monday from 10:30 am until time of service Noon at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. (4 blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak, MI. Private burial will be held at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. Please note that in accordance with the Executive Order, there is a ten person limit at a time during the visitation. .
