Alice M. Walsh

Alice Mary Walsh (nee Wright), a resident of Bloomfield, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the age of 96. A daughter of Keith and Corrine Wright, she was born on December 10, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. Alice's passion for the arts began at a very early age and blossomed as she earned her Bachelor's Degree in art history from Marygrove College. She dedicated her professional life to shaping young minds as an art teacher at Mark Twain Elementary. It was there that she met the love of her life, Richard, who taught second grade. Though she stepped away from her teaching career to raise her family, Alice's impact on education continued as she later served as a dedicated teacher aide in special education. Her nurturing spirit and immense heart touched the lives of countless children. Alice was an active parishioner at St. Paul of Tarsus, participating in various community service initiatives, including volunteering on the Peace and Justice committee at church, and tutoring. Her commitment to others was matched only by her love for life. Known for her even temperament, Alice was a true lady who could find humor in every situation. A devoted wife and mother, Alice created a harmonious home where love and positivity reigned. Alice possessed a unique and vibrant personality, blending intelligence with a genuine interest in others. Her passion for knowledge extended beyond her art history major, making her a formidable historian, crossword puzzle solver, and the smartest woman you'd ever meet. Not one to shy away from expressing her opinions, Alice was a strong and wise advisor, and a beacon of strength for those fortunate enough to seek her guidance. Her lust for life took her on adventures around the world, from climbing volcanoes in Mexico to Costa Rica to exploring the streets of Paris. Alice's travels spanned across Europe, including Italy, Spain, Ireland, North Africa, Turkey, Russia and Prague. Her first journey to Europe after high school marked the beginning of a lifelong love for exploring new cultures and landscapes. Despite the many changing backdrops, one thing was certain- Alice "couldn't imagine life without wine and cheese." Alice Mary Walsh will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Dear mother of Keith Richard (Victoria), Mary (the late Rich Cook) Walsh, Ann (Joe Tocco) Walsh, and Sue (Mark) Michonski. Cherished grandmother of Bianca Croyle, Ian Cook, Jessie Cook, Philip (Nina) Lipanski, Adele (Gerald Helm) Lipanski, Erin (Nick) Fedele, and Mathew Michonski. Treasured great-grandmother of Gerald W. Helm. Alice was preceded in death by three brothers. Friends and family will gather on Saturday, December 16, from 9:30 am until time of Memorial Mass at 10:00 am at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Parish, 41300 Romeo Plank Rd., Clinton Twp, 48038. Alice will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Gardens West in Rochester Hills immediately following Mass.
