BARBARA KAY RANDAU - ROYAL OAK 1939-2021 Barbara K. Randau of Royal Oak, MI passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 20, 2021. Loving wife of Charles E. Randau "Charlie" for 55 years who preceded her in death and a devoted mother to son Charles "Chad" Randau (Lisa). She also leaves behind sister-in-law Elaine Frank Boughner of Ohio and many cherished colleagues and friends. Barbara (Barb) was born to Fred and Eva Boughner in St Louis, MO. She grew up in Highland Park, MI and graduated from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Barb loved her time as an elementary school teacher at Highland Park Public Schools and as a substitute teacher at National Shrine of the Little Flower Grade School in Royal Oak. She enjoyed volunteer work with many organizations including The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, where she helped conceive and develop the Village Antiques Show-which became a major, annual fund-raising event. As Assistant Show Manager for 12 years, Barb along with the Show Manager, was responsible for making sure every aspect of the show ran smoothly. Barb was a member of the Royal Oak Historical Commission for 19 years, where she worked on as Vice-Chairperson and Chairperson on many committees for the preservation of historic buildings in Oakland County. For 11 years, Barb was the Chair of the Roundtable of Royal Oak Historical Organizations. This group authored and published a book on architectural buildings and sites located in Royal Oak at the beginning of the 21st Century entitled: "ROYAL OAK IMAGES: Yesterday's Charm- Today's Treasures". In her free time, she enjoyed genealogy research on family history for various individuals as well as studying her own family's ancestry.
