Barbara White

Barbara White (née Lex), age 83, of Rogers City, and longtime resident of Troy, went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2025. She valiantly battled several health issues with quiet strength and grace. Though deeply missed, we trust in God's perfect will, and rejoice knowing she is now healthy and praising Him in Heaven. Born on October 27, 1941, in Frontenhausen, Bavaria, Barbara was the daughter of Georg and Katharina Lex. Her father, a master pastry chef, passed away in 1944, after which her mother courageously raised eight children alone. Barbara attended business and culinary school in Germany and worked as a bookkeeper and accountant. Her family later enjoyed the culinary talents she mastered while training and working at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Garmisch Partenkirchen. In early 1963, Barbara emigrated to the United States following in the footsteps of her older twin sisters. Barbara wed the love of her life, John W. White, on June 11, 1966, and flourished as a devoted wife and mother. Barbara loved music, operas, ballet, and learning new things. An avid gardener with an affinity for nature, she lovingly tended her beautiful rose bushes, bountiful vegetable garden, and peach tree. Barbara's Christian faith was a true North in her life which she freely shared with others. She cherished reading the Bible regularly, memorizing scripture, and living out her faith through love, honesty, and service. Barbara had a warm sense of humor and a quiet strength that sustained her through 17 years of devoted caregiving for her beloved husband following his heart attack and stroke in 2005. Barbara was deeply curious and instilled a love of learning in her children, teaching them reading, writing, and arithmetic from an early age. She was a driving force - fiercely protective of her family and a devoted caregiver whose selfless compassion knew no boundaries. She consistently put the needs of others before her own and was ever ready to listen. Barbara's unwavering belief in her family's potential inspired strength, confidence, and resilience. Barbara touched countless lives and leaves a lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed. Beloved wife of the late John W. White. Loving mother of Katharina (Timothy) Campbell and John (Marcele) White. Cherished grandmother of Darin and Colby Campbell. Dear sister of Elfriede Razan, Rosemarie Keller, and the late Katharina Patterson and Ervin Lex, sister-in-law to Charles Patterson, and aunt to Michelle Patterson, and Pete, Georg, and Rosie Keller. Family and friends will gather on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 9:00 am until time of Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist Church, 280 East Lincoln St, Birmingham, MI 48009. Barbara will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Donations in Barbara 's memory may be made to Grace Baptist Church.
