Bob LaFleur, a beloved 35-year resident of Ray Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023, at his residence in Ray Township at the age of 84. He was born on May 9, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Alphonse and Philomene (nee' Louzon) LaFleur. Bob led a fulfilling life, marked by dedication, passion, and a love for both family and his interests. For 38 years, he worked as a foreman at Detroit Diesel - GM, where he left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the company. In 1995, Bob retired, but he remained an example of hard work and commitment throughout his life. Outside of his professional career, Bob had several hobbies that brought him immense joy. Woodworking was one of his greatest passions, and he was known for his exceptional craftsmanship. His wood shop at home served as the birthplace of countless beautiful and cherished creations. Additionally, Bob had a deep love for road bikes and motorcycles. He found a sense of freedom and adventure while traveling on his motorcycle, exploring various places like the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Florida, North Carolina, and throughout the picturesque landscapes of Michigan. In his journey through life, Bob was blessed with the companionship of Karen Liptak, his significant other, who brought happiness and love into his world. Yet, among all his pursuits, nothing brought Bob greater happiness than spending time with his family. He cherished every moment with his loved ones, and they will forever carry the warmth of his love in their hearts. Bob was a loving father to Joe LaFleur and the late Robert A. LaFleur. His memory will live on through his grandchildren, Robert (Gabriel) LaFleur, Jessica LaFleur, and Kevin LaFleur. He was also a great-grandfather to Christina and Claire, who were a source of joy and pride for him. Bob was a beloved brother to Pierre (the late Veronica) LaFleur, MaryAnn (the late Walter) Zawadzki, and Janet (Tom) Hamlin. His family ties were strong, and he cherished every moment spent with his siblings, creating fond memories that will be treasured forever. Bob LaFleur's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a treasure trove of memories that will bring smiles to the faces of his family and friends whenever they think of him. May he rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Family and friends will be gathering for a visitation at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Road (3 Blks E. Van Dyke) Utica, on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 2-8pm. Bob will lie instate on Friday, July 28th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis-St. Maximilian Catholic Church, 62811 New Haven Road, Ray, until the time of his funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. His burial will take place at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Troy.
