Bonnie Kaye Alleman

After more than 20 years of battling a variety of ailments including COPD, Pulmonary Fibrosis and Pulmonary Hypertension it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Bonnie (Zimmerman) Alleman passed away on February 25, 2023 at the age of 74 in the comfort of her home with Ric and Kelley near her. Bonnie was born on August 19, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan; the daughter of James and Eileen Zimmerman. She grew up in Warren Michigan with her three sisters Barbara, Bette and Beverly. Bonnie met Ric in April of 1964 and they married on February 13, 1971. In 1966, at the age of 17, Bonnie graduated from Centerline High School. She attended Macomb County Community College but did not obtain a degree. She developed a variety of skills and worked at the City of Warren as a Treasury Clerk. After Dan and Kelley were in grade school, Bonnie was hired into Warren Consolidated Schools as part of their cafeteria staff. Afterwards, she moved up to become an Adult Enrichment Administrator. When she wasn't working, she was a stay-at-home mom supporting her two children and her husband. Bonnie enjoyed attending family gatherings and traveling to Florida where she would often be seen sunbathing. Although she did not swim, she enjoyed being by the water whether it was the ocean, a lake, or an in-ground pool. Ric and Bonnie enjoyed going out to eat. They had many favorite restaurants which they frequented of which many were Mexican Restaurants. Bonnie enjoyed her desserts as well, including Dairy Queen ice cream, Queen Anne chocolate covered cherries, banana splits, fudge, and especially cotton candy. Bonnie had a love for jewelry, cosmetics, fashion and multi-colored haircuts. She always dressed and looked impeccable. Her smile would warm your heart. She had a passion for decorating and enjoyed incorporating eclectic artwork throughout her home. Hearts held a special significance to Bonnie, her diverse collection of hearts throughout her home was an important part of her life. When she wasn't traveling or enjoying a meal out, she spent time watching reality television, watching Tik Tok's and enjoying a variety of puzzles and games on her tablet. For many years, Bonnie welcomed people into her home that were in need of a place to stay. She never turned anyone away and always made sure they felt at home. Her door was always open and her warm smile and kind words made everyone feel welcomed and loved. As a wife, Bonnie was a devoted and loving partner to her husband Ric of 52 years, and together they raised two amazing children. They built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Her unwavering support and unconditional love were the foundation of their marriage, and she will be deeply missed. As a mother, Bonnie was a shining example of selflessness and kindness. Her love for her children Kelley and Daniel, knew no bounds, and she dedicated her life to ensuring their happiness and success. Her strength and guidance will continue to inspire her children throughout their lives. Bonnie loved her daughter-in-law, Kimberley and always appreciated the extra visits of bringing Bailee over to spend time or have a sleep over at their house. Ric and Bonnie also cared for and supported Kelley's closest friend, Linda Girard, since she was 16 years old. Linda, her husband Garth and their daughter Ella have been a big part of our family, including attending some of our family's biggest events for over 30 years. Bonnie really enjoyed seeing them grow up and be successful in their own lives and hearing updates on anything new and exciting, including Ella's singing and college adventures. As a grandmother, aka "YaYa", Bonnie was a constant source of love and joy. She adored her granddaughter Bailee and cherished every moment spent with her. Bonnie enjoyed watching Bailee grow up from a baby in 2015 to a beautiful well manned young girl today. She loved buying Bailee clothes and having her try on the clothes and model them for her or watch Bailee have dance parties, sing, perform gymnastics for her, and play games and puzzles. Bonnie loved watching Bailee play dress up, painting her nails, helping her with her makeup or just have some special girl talk. Whenever possible, Bonnie tried to spend time watching Bailee in her school and weekend events, including gymnastics, dance class, and swimming. Bailee was Ric and Bonnie's only grandchild so they always went above and beyond to spoil Bailee including having the toys and games that she would play with, new bikes to ride, having new clothes to wear, and eat at restaurants Bailee would pick for them even if they didn't really care for the food. Bonnie enjoyed everything about Bailee, but most especially she loved being called Yaya and getting a hug and kiss from Bailee with an "I love you". Bonnie's legacy will live on through the memories that will be shared with Bailee from her friends and family. In addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Bonnie was a devoted sister to her sisters Barbara, Bette, and Beverly. She cherished the time spent with them and always found time to keep in touch, even when distance kept them apart. Our family, and Bonnie's role as wife, mother, grandmother was the most important thing to Bonnie. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family was what Bonnie enjoyed most of all. Her life had many obstacles, and she struggled for over 20 years with a devastating illness. Yet through it all, her love and caring for her family remained her focus, and in so many ways, she was able to show that love to us. She continued to smile and stay positive and supportive even though she was struggling for every breathe she took. Many people heard Bonnie say her now famous line, "I'm fine." Bonnie was far from fine, but she did not want the attention of her struggles to change how people saw her or interacted with her. This perseverance through adversity is a powerful lesson for us, and I believe it is her legacy. What a wonderful lesson she gave us. Keep your priorities straight. Keep that which is most important in focus. Love and care for your family. Let them know in all the ways you can show them, that you love them. Don't let adversities or setbacks or any of the distractions of the world keep you from this most important aspect of life. Bonnie will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her spirit of kindness and love will continue to inspire those who knew her. The world will lack some sparkle without her bright smile and giving heart.
