Bruce Howard Yuille

A Life Well Lived Bruce Howard Yuille passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 80, at his home in Clarkston, Michigan. Born on August 6, 1945, to Doris (Brassington) Yuille and Glen Yuille, Bruce was the middle of three children. He often spoke of his close childhood relationships with his siblings, Dave and Sandy-filled with fun, clever mischief, and love. Bruce was both an athlete and a scholar. He played high school baseball, wrestled, and played football until a knee injury ended his football career, though his love for the game never faded. He remained a fiercely loyal Detroit Lions fan and rarely missed a televised game. School came easily to him, and he often remarked that he never had to study until his time at the University of Michigan. He later completed his undergraduate studies at Oakland University and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University. While beginning his career as a young lawyer, Bruce had a chance encounter in a courthouse with Susan Pill, a longtime friend from their early days at Webster Elementary School. Not long after, Bruce and Susan were married, sharing 46 years together until Susan's passing on April 16, 2019. Together, they raised three daughters-Brittney, Lauren, and Brianna-and Bruce was also a devoted stepfather to Doug Quick. Family was at the center of Bruce's world. This was evident in countless family game nights around the card table, spirited rounds of hide-and-seek, road trips to northern Michigan, and vacations across the country. He coached his children's sports teams and supported each of them in their passions and pursuits. In his later years, he frequently attended his grandchildren's school events, sporting events, and dance recitals. Above all, he strived to be present-ready to listen, to talk, and to offer steady support. In the 1990s, Bruce entered the telecommunications industry, where his entrepreneurial spirit thrived. A company he co-founded, Coast-to-Coast Telecommunications, grew to become the largest competitor to AT&T in the state of Michigan. He possessed the hallmark trait of many gifted minds-an independent spirit that did not respond well to authority, fueling his entrepreneurial drive. In addition to his love for family, Bruce found great joy in the companionship of animals. The family always had beloved dogs, and in his later years, he found comfort and companionship with his cats. Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Doris; his father, Glen; his brother, David; and his beloved wife, Susan. He is survived by his sister, Sandra; his children, Doug (Carol), Brittney (Bora), Lauren (Jeff), and Brianna; and his grandchildren, Brenden, David, Jason, Leyla, Dilara, Prescott, Davis, Holly, and Margot; as well as his caregiver, Cheyanne Harmon. A celebration of Bruce's life will be held at Kirk in the Hills, 1340 W. Long Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, on Saturday, April 11, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to PAAW (Pet Adoption Alternative of Warren) at www.paawarren.org .
