Carol "Naunie" Gossage

Carol "Naunie" Gossage, 86, a longtime resident of Utica and formerly of Center Line, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in Lake Orion, Michigan. She was born on July 29, 1937, to her late parents, Keith and Catherine (nee' Bunzy) Cope. When Carol was just a few years old Catherine married the love of her life, Byron "Bumps" Danner. He was adored by Carol, as the only father she ever knew. Carol dedicated 20 years of her life as a Secretary for the Center Line Public Schools. Her love for her work was evident in her dedication and commitment to her profession. Carol had a zest for life that was infectious. She found joy in the simple pleasures of traveling, crocheting, watching movies, and relishing the music of Elvis. Her laughter was contagious, and she cherished moments spent with her family and friends, whom affectionately referred to her as "Naunie". She adored spending time with her furry companion, Sherlock, whose companionship brought her immense comfort and joy. Carol was the beloved wife of the late Leonard "Popeye" Gossage, and together they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. She was the loving mother of Monica (Chuck) Schubert, Lizabeth (Chuck) Locklear, Allison (Kevin) Susalla, and the late Byron E. Gossage. Her legacy extends through her cherished grandchildren: Whitney (Chris) Geck, Chandler (Greg) Yatooma, Emily (Yoni) Seevers, Holland Locklear, Gabriel (Caterina) Schubert, Conner Susalla, McKenna Schubert, Olivia (Patrick) Baldwin, Mitchell Susalla, and Logan (Bree) Susalla. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Juliet, Lachlan, Shiloh, Scarlet, Selah, Athena, Elodie, Aurora, Seraphina, Ezra, and Milo. Carol was preceded in death by her brother, the late Gerald (Eileen) Cope. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Carol's vibrant spirit, unwavering love, and infectious laughter will be dearly missed. Family and friends will be gathering for a visitation and service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Road (3 Blks of Van Dyke) Utica on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 2-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 11 am from the funeral home. Carol will be laid to rest next to Leonard at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan.
