Doris Marion Cardelli

Doris Marion (Cisco) Cardelli, born September 8, 1923 and passed away January 14, 2017, at age 93. Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and beloved wife of Edward (deceased in 2000) for 51 years. Mother to Cheryl, Karen (Gary) Andrusiak, Daniel (Paula), Thomas (Marcia), and Jenny. Grandmother to Tracie (Matt) Severson, Ericka (Judd) Lawler, Jessica (Jason) Stilger, Marian, Ben (Lauren), David, Abilyn, Christopher, and Dominic. Great Grandmother to Claire and Henry Lawler, Luke and Hannah Severson, and Jovie and Edison Stilger. Survived by five sisters, Evelyn (John) Gimpert, Betty Wallen, Gertrude (Richard) Tworck, Jennie (Ron) Grzeskowiak, and Emma Johnson; and four sisters-in-law, Rose Murphy, Dee Faia (Bernard) Parkins, Mary Cardelli, and Peggy Cisco. Predeceased by sister, Eunice Gaj; and brothers, Louis, Joseph, Edward, and Roman. Doris was born in Racine, Wisconsin in 1923 and moved to metro Detroit as a young girl. As the oldest daughter of 11 children, and losing her mother at a young age, she played an integral role in raising her siblings. Doris was an original Rosie the Riveter, building airplanes during World War II. She enjoyed reading, needlepointing, crocheting, and became an accomplished bookkeeper (D.C. Bookkeeping and Tax Service). Doris loved her family and her church and was an active member of St. Alphonsus Parish in Dearborn and later St. Mary's Parish of Royal Oak. She shared her life story for her family to enjoy in her memoir, "Little Notes." Doris met the love of her life, Edward (Eddie), while vacationing in Pennsylvania in 1947. They enjoyed every moment raising a family, traveling, and laughing together. The family will hold a viewing at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd. (4 blocks E. of Woodward), Royal Oak on Friday, January 20 from 3-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 5 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, January 21 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 730 Lafayette, Royal Oak, in-state at 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at Red Run Golf Club, 2036 Rochester Rd., Royal Oak.
