Edward C. Wolfenden

Edward C. Wolfenden, age 93, passed away on April 10, 2026. Born on December 21, 1932, Edward lived a full and devoted life centered on family, service, and the simple joys that brought him happiness each day. A proud United States Navy veteran, Edward served during the Korean War, where he took great pride in cooking for his fellow sailors. After his service, he built a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a willingness to help others. Known by many as the family handyman, Edward was always busy fixing, building, or organizing, never one to sit still for long. Edward found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved bowling alongside his wife in their league, fishing, golfing, and hunting. His faith was an important part of his life and he was a member of St. Lawrence Church. He enjoyed trips to the casino, playing cards, especially euchre, and spending time at the cigar bar. Some of his fondest memories were traveling in the family camper with his wife and children as they grew up and later spending winters in Florida with his beloved wife. Edward is survived by his children, Michael (Tracy) Wolfenden and Lori Swanson. He was a proud grandfather to Melissa (Glenn) Stratton and Melanie (Jeremy) Mann, and step-grandfather to Brandon Strohm, Preston (Alyssa) Strohm, Taylor Strohm, Logan Strohm, and Kendall Strohm. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Harper, Sophie, Elliott, and Ronan, and his step-great-grandchildren, Bexely and Skylynn. He also held a special place in his heart for his goddaughter, Cindy (Dan) Miller. He is also survived by his brother, Rick (Rita) Wolfenden. Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Joanne Wolfenden; his parents, James and Eleanor Osborne; and his three brothers and two sisters. Edward will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his generous spirit, and his deep love for his family. A life well lived, and a man deeply loved, Edward leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts of his family and friends. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 10am until the time of the memorial mass at 11am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Rd, Utica, MI 48317. The family welcomes everyone to join the luncheon at the church that will take place immediately following the mass. Edward will be inurned on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 12:30pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442.
