Eunice Ruth Bitzer

Eunice Bitzer of Royal Oak, MI, age 90; departed this life to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on May 25, 2026. She was born in 1935 in Buffalo, NY, to Richard and Jean Bowen. She attended public schools in Warren, MI, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1953, and attended South Macomb Community College, graduating in 1962. She worked at Michigan Bell Telephone as a service representative and product demonstrator. Later she worked as a secretary at Pontiac Plastics, Metals Finishing, and at First Presbyterian Church in a single-person office setting. She was married to Howard Bitzer for 48 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard, her parents, and her dear brother, Bill Bowen, and sister-in-law, Lorene Carey. She is survived by her sister-in-law Sally Bowen, daughter, Deborah Susan (Richard) Graeber, three nephews and a niece: David (Yvonne) Bowen, Robert (Virginia) Bowen, Douglas (Sheryl) Carey and Carolyn (Mike) Taylor, and great aunt of Christian Bowen, Sasha Bowen, Brayden Bowen, Ashley Taylor, Brandon Taylor and Chance Taylor. Eunice was actively involved with her church. She was a true Bible scholar, and her heart's joy was teaching God's Word to young people and adults alike. She cherished her friends at Camps Farthest Out and caravanning down to retreats at Capon Springs, WV, each Fall. Through decades of faithful Christian service and teaching, she touched hundreds of lives. Eternity alone will tell just how many lives she touched for the Lord. She had a love for all animals, and she and Howard had several dogs over the years. Terry, Curly, "Doc", Shyla, and Annie brought her much love and many challenges. She loved traveling at home and abroad, gardening, and was an avid reader. The last five years of Eunice's life were spent at Novi Lakes Health Campus in Novi, MI. There she was well cared for by a wonderful group of staff too numerous to mention. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Emmanuel Bethel Church, 4000 Normandy Road, Royal Oak, MI 48073. Visitation will be held at Emmanuel Bethel Church, 4000 Normandy Road, Royal Oak, MI from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Following the visitation a service remembering Eunice and celebrating her life will take place, also at Emmanuel Bethel, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service in the church's Fellowship Hall.
