Felix H. "Sonny" Belkowski, age 96, of Rochester Hills, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Beloved husband of Therese Belkowski (nee: Stinson); loving father of Nancy (Gene) Dudash, Cynthia (Jim) Crowley; dear grandfather of Alexa, Ian, Elena, Gunnar and Reegan; stepfather to Therese (Tom) Wysocki, Martha (Tom) Davidson, Larry (Amy) Dunn, Pat (Jodie) Dunn, Michael (Martha) Dunn, Matt (Nicole) Dunn; step-grandfather to Tim (Sarah) Wysocki, Daniel, Joseph, Angela, Tom (April), Bob (Kelly), Katie (Al), Danielle (David), the late Larry "Tiger" Dunn, Reilly, MaryJo, Patrick, Tucker, Matthew and Samantha; step-great grandfather to Madison, Tommy, Maximus, Eleanor, Jeffrey, Erin, Felix and Ethan. A visitation for Sonny will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 10:00-12:00, followed by funeral service at 12:00pm at Sullivan & Son - 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica, MI 48317. Inurnment will take place after the funeral services at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Sonny was born in Detroit (Corktown), MI and would spend many future years in and around his beloved city. He attended Western High and served his country in WWII. He briefly attended drafting school in Chicago but soon returned to his city of his birth where he would work at Eaton Detroit Springs for most of his adult life. He married, had children, raised a family, and spent many years being a doting grandfather. You could always catch him on a Saturday on the golf course with his buddies, bowling, watching Tiger play golf on TV, going to the casino, watching the Wolverines, catching a Tiger's game, hanging with his brothers - "The Raccoons," attending his children's activities, but one thing you would never find him on…a boat. He always said it made him "green in the gills." Sonny was known for being a loud storyteller with a robust laugh and giving his famous speeches every Birthday and Father's Day. He had so many moniker sayings, "hey you crazy cat, hey chicken, that's super-duper, I mean sh*t man", a "private" handshake with his girls and grandchildren (although we all knew it was the same). He loved putting "air quotes" around anything needing emphasis (which was everything), referring to Covid-19 as the "bug" or "germ" and always asking everyone to look things up on their smart phone like how many miles to the moon? When asked why he wasn't wearing his hearing aids, he always replied, "they are at home listening for burglars." He had so many sayings like that a page could be filled with them. He was always willing to lend a helping hand no matter the task: washing windows, laying carpet, painting playhouses, he always liked to stay busy. He was like Norm from Cheers, no matter what city he lived in, he always had his favorite diner where everyone knew his name, and he just liked that comfortable feeling of being known. Heaven received one heck of a Lorna Doone-eating, Vernors-drinking angel because whether you were his grandchild or his waitress, you were loved, remembered and treated with respect.
