Gary C. Wiegand Sr.

Gary C. Wiegand Sr. Age 68, October 10, 2016, Born June 21, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. Gary lived a full 68 years of life, taking advantage of everything that life had to offer. He shared a forty-eight year marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Melinda, who he met in middle school. Growing up in a small town of Center Line, Michigan with his three brothers and three sisters, he always remained close with his family, which were very important to him. He married Melinda McAleer at the age of 20, and worked for over 30 years as a manufacturing engineer at Dana Formsprag Corporation in Warren, Michigan. Gary and Melinda had three children - Wendy, Gary Jr., and Joseph. His family meant the most to him, and spending time with them was the most important thing. He enjoyed traveling with Melinda, the love of being on the water in Lake St. Clair where he boated, fished, and duck hunt. One of his goals in life was to own a cottage on Lake St. Clair, and in 1989 he purchased a cottage on a lone island located on the "St. Clair Flats." Spending almost all of his summers at the "Cottage" fishing, hunting, swimming, water skiing, and enjoying all of what nature has to offer along with all of his children and extended family members. "Uncle Gary's Cottage" quickly became the family favorite vacation spot. Gary's family would grow even more with the addition eight grandchildren and two step grandchildren whom he loved almost as much as he did his wife. Late in his short life Gary was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis followed by a heart complications. He passed away comfortably in his home with family by his side. Gary is survived by wife, Melinda Mary. Dear father of Wendy (Scott) Childs, Gary C. (Amy) Wiegand Jr., and Joseph (Sandi) Wiegand. Loving grandfather to Samantha, Ashley, Claire, Molly, Jack, Emma, Abbygayle, MaKenzie, Kylee, and Bettyann. Dear brother of Thomas (Pat) Wiegand, William (Linda) Wiegand, Ruth Ann (John) Sargent, Diane Wiegand, JoAnn Wiegand, and Jay (Tina) Wiegand.
