Gerald "Jerry" J. Daszkiewicz

Gerald "Jerry" Daszkiewicz passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13th, 2026. He was surrounded by the love of his two daughters, Mary Ann and Karen. Jerry was preceded in death by the love of his life, Frances, in 2017; his parents, Joseph E. Daszkiewicz and Olga (née Peron), brother-in-law Joseph Spica, and nephew Joey Spica. He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Ann (Craig) Robertson and Karen Parrell, brother Thomas (Carol) Daszkiewicz, cousin Marvin (Barb) Maio, sister-in-law Diane Spica, grandchildren Mackenzie Robertson, Rachel Parrell, Matthew Robertson, and Sean Parrell, nieces and nephews Alan (Darcy) Daszkiewicz, Lisa (Daniel) Michalski, Teresa Spiga, and Michael (Melissa) Spica, and great nieces and nephews Mackenzie Daszkiewicz, Harper Daszkiewicz, Sydney Daszkiewicz, Landon Michalski, and Michael Spica. Jerry was raised in Hamtramck, Michigan, and was a graduate of St. Ladislaus High School where he played both football and baseball. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and spent time stationed in Wisconsin. Upon returning home to Michigan, Jerry attended the wedding of a friend and met his wife, Frances, whom he married in 1964. Jerry and Frances welcomed Mary Ann in 1965 and Karen in 1971. Beyond how much he loved his family, Jerry also loved his career with Pepsi, working in Royal Oak, Michigan, before he was transferred to the White Plains, New York, location. In his younger years, he loved fishing, namely ice fishing. Ice fishing was one of his favorite ways to spend time with his father before his passing, and Jerry carried a picture from one of their outings in his wallet until his passing. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions. When Mary Ann was younger, he loved coaching her softball teams. While with Karen, he always enjoyed taking her to the ice rink. As years passed, Jerry began to seek quieter activities. He enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren, making sure to track weather patterns of the various cities and states they moved to for life and schooling. Jerry also enjoyed watching Mass weekly on television. He was an avid crossword puzzler, keeping one in his back pocket and the centre console of his car for when he would pick his grandchildren up from school. He was not a fan of sudoku and would make it known, but Jerry loved math-based puzzles and riddles. Jerry also kept an extensive collection of baseball hats, which were worn frequently and always taken off indoors. Jerry was a kind and humble man. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jerry's life with a visitation and funeral service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 Blks E. of Van Dyke), Utica, on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 3- 8 p.m., and a funeral service on Tuesday, August 19, 2026, at 10 am at the funeral home. Jerry will be laid to rest next to his loving wife, Frances, with military honors at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan.
