Gloria Jean Gove

Gloria Jean Gove, 82, of Royal Oak, MI, entered into eternal life on May 9th, 2025 Gloria had the warmest heart and gave the best hugs. Her spirit was one of kindness. She was sweet and humble and a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. Her life was guided by her faith and unconditional love for her family. Her love of Christ and sharing his message of love and God's gift of eternal life was one of the most important things to her. Gloria was born and raised in Southwest Detroit. She graduated from Western High School and with much joy started a family of her own. She loved her two children dearly and always made sure they knew how precious they were to her. After moving to Royal Oak in 1980, she spent her career serving the United States Postal Service for over 20 years – a job she earned with a simple hand-written letter to the local postmaster expressing her heartfelt wish to work there. She enjoyed her work and made good friends along the way, remaining close with many of them well into her retirement. Throughout her life, Gloria remained true to herself. She found happiness and peace in life's simple pleasures. She was happy just spending time with her family at a local restaurant or on her porch swing on a sunny day. She eagerly awaited birthday parties and the holidays to gather and spend time with her loved ones. She treasured her two granddaughters who enjoyed spending lots of quality time with grandma. Recently, she was so excited to become a great grandmother and adored her sweet great grandson very much. She also loved critters of all types. It brought her great joy to feed the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and even the occasional opossum! Over the years she lovingly adopted many cats and dogs as family and missed them so very dearly when they were gone. Gloria will be remembered most for her sweet nature, generosity, sly humor and spirited laughter. She spoke with great love about how one day we will all be together again in heaven - family, pets and friends in perfect health, happy forever. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Gloria in our daily lives but comforted by our memories, faith and her light in our lives that shines eternal. Loving mother of Claudia (Ruben) Rodriguez and Philip (Angela) Gove. Cherished "Grandma Gloria" to Jessica (Hank) Wolfe-Rodriguez and Jillian (Beau) Lukas-Rodriguez. She treasured her new title as "Great-Grandma Gloria" to sweet little Cass. She was also survived by beloved family and friends: Joseph Gove, Veronica (Raul) Morales, Sophia Myers, Tracey (Kevin) St. Peter, Brian Myers, Maureen Dawda and Peggy Kazimer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Florence Myers; brother, Oakie Myers; sister and best friend, Gail Pafford; nephews, Tom Pafford and Dean Pafford. A Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Gloria Jean Gove will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, with visitation from 12pm until start of service at 3pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd. (four blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak, MI 48067. Gloria will be laid to rest at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak in a private interment. Donations in Gloria's memory can be made to Humane Society of Huron Valley, Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan or the animal shelter of your choice.
