James Edward Beers

Beers, James (Jim) Edward. Age 85, of Royal Oak (formerly a 50-year resident of Huntington Woods), passed away in Troy on November 4, 2015. Mr. Beers was born in Stewartsville, Missouri to the late Joseph and Myrtle Beers. James married his high school sweetheart, his beloved wife, Georgia (Bryant), on May 31, 1946 in Troy, Kansas. “Mom & Dad” Bryant immediately accepted James into the family, and he looked up to them as he would his very own parents. James formerly resided in St. Joseph and Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Michigan in 1959. Mr. Beers worked for General Motors for 37 years, 10 of which were as Director of Process Engineering. James also studied engineering at the University of Detroit. Cherished father of Georgia (John) Connell, Rick (Barb) Beers, Rita (Gary) Ray and Deborah (Phillip) Newton. Adoring grandfather of Loren (Christine) Connell, Rebecca (Daniel) Michelson, Sean (Jennifer) Connell, Lisa (Aaron) Grenier, Brandon (Ginny) Beers, Heather (Spencer) Mitchell, Paul Ray, Kati (John) Hamilton, Tony Ray, Georgia Ray, Angela (David) Hunt, and Robert (Nicole) Newton. Great-grandfather of Abigail Connell, Madison Connell, Joshua Michelson, Jacob Michelson, Noah Michelson, Gavin Connell, Zackary Beers, Lily Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Taylyn Mitchell, Christopher Twarowski, Trinity Twarowski, Ariana Ray, Riley Hamilton, Morgan Hamilton, Jonathon Hunt, Zoe Hunt, Owen Hunt, Matthew Newton, Phillip John Newton, and Joey Newton. Great-great grandfather of Isabella Twarowski. Dearest brother of the late Lee, Norman, Jay, Dale Beers and Cleta Sickler. Faith and family were everything to Mr. Beers. He cherished each and every family member and was always happy to simply have them around. James was known for saying, “I have the best family in the world!” He was the perfect host to anyone that entered his home. He would ensure they had a bite to eat and something to drink. At the end of the night, he would walk them to the door and say, “God bless you and your family. We love each and every one of you.” Mr. Beers enjoyed traveling back to Missouri over the years to see family and friends. He had a love for fishing and cars, but above all, James loved boating. Visitation Sunday 1-8 p.m. and funeral service Monday 1 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. (4 blks. E of Woodward), Royal Oak.
