Jeffrey Gutholm

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Jay Gutholm on July 25, 2026, at the age of 56. Though he is no longer with us, his adventurous spirit, gentle heart, and unwavering love for his family will forever remain in our hearts. Nothing brought Jeff greater pride or joy than his three children, Brandon, Paige, and Oliver. He deeply loved and cherished them, creating countless lifelong memories through movie marathons, reading books and comics, camping trips, shared music, and kayaking adventures. He was the most fun, loving, goofy dad and a kid at heart himself. The outdoors was where he felt most at peace. Whether camping beneath the stars, paddling across lakes and rivers, or taking a drive in his beloved Jeep, he found happiness in nature's simple pleasures. His adventurous spirit inspired many who were fortunate enough to share those experiences with him. A lifelong dog lover, and proud supporter of Detroit Dog Rescue, he opened his heart and home to two rescue dogs whom he adored. Few things made him happier than taking them for rides or swimming at Belle Isle. Collecting was another of his passions. From Vernors memorabilia and comic books to his legendary collection of T-shirts, he found joy in preserving the things that interested him. Music also played a meaningful role throughout his life, providing comfort, connection, and countless memorable moments. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Jeff became an accomplished finish carpenter. His exceptional attention to detail, dedication to quality craftsmanship, and commitment to doing things the right way earned the respect of everyone who worked alongside him. Great pride was taken in every project he completed. Those who knew him will remember his kind heart, humor, generous spirit, sense of adventure, and deep love for family, friends, and dogs. The memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brandon Gutholm, Paige Gutholm, and Oliver Gutholm; his siblings, Tina Gutholm, Robbie Gutholm, and Wendy Gutholm; and his nieces and nephews, Andy Gutholm, Cameron Bourgeois, Chloe Bourgeois, Regen Weinert, and McKenzie Weinert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Carolyn (Ballard) Gutholm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Detroit Dog Rescue in his honor.
