Jim "James" L. McNairy, a devoted father, proud veteran, and cherished finance', passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Clinton Township, Michigan, at the age of 78. Jim, a resident of Sterling Heights, Michigan, leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. Jim was born on August 25, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to his late parents, James and Audrey McNairy. He grew up in a nurturing home that instilled in him the values of integrity, resilience, and kindness. Jim's deep-rooted sense of patriotism led him to serve his country with honor and distinction as a proud United States Navy veteran during the Vietnam War. Outside of his military service, Jim found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep appreciation for nature and loved spending time camping and traveling, creating beautiful memories with his loved ones. Jim's love for adventure was only surpassed by the immense pride he felt for his daughters, who brought him endless happiness throughout his life. Jim was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica, Michigan, where he found solace, community, and spiritual guidance. His faith was a guiding light in his life and provided him with strength during both joyful and challenging times. Throughout his journey, Jim was fortunate to have the love of his life Sharon Benson, who held a special place in his heart. Together, they shared laughter, friendship, and unwavering support for each other, creating a bond that brought them comfort and joy. Jim will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted father. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Renee (Joe) Michael, Sheryl Moore, and Maureen (Joe) Archibald, who will carry on his legacy of love, compassion, and strength. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Moore, Zachary Kratochwill, and Dylan Archibald, who were a source of immense pride and joy for him. Jim's love and guidance will forever resonate in their lives, serving as a reminder of the remarkable grandfather they were blessed to have. Jim's presence will be deeply missed by Sharon's children; Lisa (John) Lawson, David (Annette Stapleton) Benson, Jeremy (Katie) Benson, along with her grandchildren. Jim is survived by his brother, Richard McNairy. He is predeceased by his sisters, Judy and Patty, whose spirits will surely reunite with his in eternal peace. Jim also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory in their hearts. In celebration of Jim's life, a memorial service will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home in Utica, Michigan, where family, friends, and loved ones will gather to honor and pay their respects to this exceptional man. Jim's memory will forever live on, and his legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched. Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of his celebration of life service at 10:00 a.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica. Inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. Jim McNairy, a man of honor, love, and unwavering faith, has left an indelible mark on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
