Joyce Bennett

Joyce Lee Bennett was born on January 13, 1945 in Almont, MI to the late Ronald and Viola Whittey. On June 19th, 1965 Joyce married her soulmate, Edward James "Jim" Bennett, Jr and together they built the best family and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Joyce was the amazing mother to Edward James "Jimmy" Bennett, III (Susan) of Simpsonville, SC; Jennifer Lee Tidwell (David) of Hendersonville, TN; and Jessica Marie Bennett-Tankersley (Alan) of Shelby Township, MI. She was the proud Mimi to Jackson and Shelby Tidwell and Memaw to Gus Kaminski. She was also known and loved as Queenie by the Siekmann family. Joyce had 3 loving siblings - her older sister, the late Janice Bilpo, who she is finally reunited with in heaven; her brother Jeffrey (Shawn) whose wit and antics always made her laugh; and her incredibly good looking and sweet younger sister, Jorja (Vince). She also had two very special people in her life who meant the world to her: her sister-in-law, Margaret Bennett and her lifelong friend, Patricia Emenheiser. She was also blessed to have the best "outlaws" and countless nieces and nephews. What words can be used to describe the Joyce we all knew and loved?! She lived up to her name by bringing joy to all who met her. The first thought in all our minds is her infectious and unforgettable laugh. A laugh so loud it could be heard a mile away. Jim and Joyce lived in Shelby Township, MI for 49 years with the most wonderful neighbors who all became family. They spent many years camping and traveling the country. Their passion for camping began when their kids were little and continued on until 2020. They spent years in Florida, surrounded by many friends, singing karaoke and enjoying their "pour by 4" cocktail hour. Joyce loved many genres of music: Elvis, Queen, Kiss, The Rolling Stones, Journey, Prince and James Brown were some of her favorites. She loved to sing and dance any chance she could. Joyce's sense of humor was second to none. She had no filter, used the middle finger often, and her favorite phrase was "Bite Me." Joyce lived to entertain family and friends. She ensured that snacks and drinks were always provided and that laughs were plentiful. To our family, she will forever be known as "A Good Cook and a Good Bake."
