Joyce Love Hall

Joyce Love Hall (Hunter) passed away peacefully in her home on June 2, 2025, and is now home with the One she loved most - Jesus. Joyce was born on October 24, 1936, in Alexandria, Louisiana, the first child of James Hunter and Essie Mae Berry. She was the eldest of seven siblings: James (Carole) Hunter, Clarence (Barbara*) Hunter, Ruby Hunter*, Georgia* (Sydney*) Ford, Dorothy* (Charles) Bauer, Rose Hunter, and Sally (Tim) Simpson. She graduated from Peabody High School in Alexandria and began working as a dry cleaner before marrying Robert Hall Jr. on December 23, 1961. Joyce later worked as a housekeeper and eventually moved with Robert to Flint, Michigan, where they were introduced to the church through Brother Jether Vinson. Her faith became the cornerstone of her life from that moment on. Joyce was a devoted wife and loving mother to seven children: Sureese (Lewis) Wright, Robert, Kay, Patrick, Matthew, Stephanie (Aaron) Hannah, and Brandon (Rebekah). She leaves behind 23 grandchildren, one granddaughter in law, and nine great-grandchildren. To them, she was a constant source of prayer, love, and wisdom. She often reminded them, "God hears every prayer of little children - they go straight up to Him." Her home was filled with the music of the church and the sweet aroma of her cooking. Joyce was known for her comforting chicken and rice, always had a pack of green Extra gum for her grandkids, and rarely went without a Dasani water bottle and Ritz crackers nearby. She adored the color pink and the scent of vanilla, and often sang to her granddaughters: "You are so beautiful to me, can't you see…" Some of her favorite songs from the Ways of the Lord songbook were numbers 139, 97, 361, 146, and especially 272, whose chorus now rings true in full: "Jesus has been revealed to me! Comfort untold! Now I behold The life He lived so faithfully; Therefore is He precious to me." - Song 272, Ways of the Lord Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Hall Jr., and her dear sisters Ruby, Georgia, and Dorothy. Though she grieved their loss, she never wavered in her faith - praying continually and giving thanks to the Lord until her final day. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
