Joyce A. Norred

Joyce Ann Norred, age 96, passed away on June 16, 2025. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, Joyce's life was one of quiet service, unwavering dedication to family, friends, and strong sense of community. Born on March 6, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Lawrence and Nellie (nee' Woodman) Oliver. She lived her 96 years in the Tri-County area. She was preceded by her husband, Roy Norred in 1997; her sister Patricia Hawkins; and her brothers, Harlan "Sonny" Oliver and Lawrence Oliver. She is survived by her children, Phyllis (Giorgio) Copioli and Mike (Renee) Norred, her four grandsons, Paul (Jen) Copioli, Mike (Jennifer) Copioli, Brian (Robin) Norred, Chris (Mary Anne) Norred; and her eight great-grandchildren, Giovanni Copioli, Donovan Copioli, Emma Norred, Dominic Copioli, Evan Norred, Madelyn Norred, Zachary Norred, and Emily Norred. Also survived by her siblings, Ed (Darlene) Oliver, Ron Oliver, and Janet "Sue" (Ed) Glazer; and her step-sister Joann Clark. Throughout her life, Joyce worked in a variety of roles, including in the credit department at J.L. Hudson's, as a telephone operator for an answering service, and as a poll worker during elections. She was also an active community member-serving as a Girl Scout leader, walking for the March of Dimes, and always offering help to friends, family, and neighbors. Joyce enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved playing cards, bowling, visiting the casino, and above all, playing Bingo-where she was a regular and enthusiastic participant. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and steadfast support for her family, friends, and neighbors will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Joyce's life with a memorial visitation and service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Road (3 Blks E. of Van Dyke) Utica on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm (Noon). Joyce will be laid to rest along side her beloved husband -Roy at Acacia Park Cemetery in Beverly Hills, Michigan.
