Judith "Judy" Suzanne El Fakir

Judith (Judy) Suzanne El Fakir Age 75, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully with her loving daughter Rie by her side. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, and from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21 at Wm. Sullivan and Sons Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks E. of Van Dyke) Utica. Instate 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22 at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church (48115 Schoenherr Road, Shelby Township) until the time of Mass 10 a.m. There will be a Luncheon to follow in the social hall of the church. Judy was born January 8, 1941 in Detroit, to the late Joseph and Suzanne Malbouef, and was one of ten children. She has/had 2 beautiful daughters, whom she raised to be independent and compassionate. She was so proud of her daughter Jeanette Wininger, who went to Michigan State University Medical School and became an Anesthesiologist. She was equally proud of her daughter Ann Marie, who recently has obtained her Bachelors degree in Social Work, through Oakland University. Ann Marie married Chuck Carufel, and gave her 2 grandchildren Zac and Olivia, who quickly became the center of her world. Family meant everything to Judy, and she loved sharing time with them, whether that be camping, family parties, trips to the apple orchard, or just relaxing at her beautiful home in Charlevoix. Judy reconnected with her "Honey" Joe Gammicchia after many years, and they have shared a fun-filled life of travel ever since. "Judy and Joe" loved camping, trips to Florida, and sharing time together. Joe cared for Judy in a way that no one else could. They loved each other so! Judy was a hard worker; she retired from Michigan Bell with over 30 years. She never met a stranger, as she was always friendly and would greet people she met each day. She had a way of getting to know people quickly, which is how she grew to have so many friends who are missing her now. She was the Queen Bee of the Red Hat Society while living up north. Judy also loved her swimming classes, her pool people, her wonderful neighbors, and watching the birds from her front porch. Judy is survived by her daughter Ann Marie (Chuck) Carufel, grandchildren Zachary and Olivia Caruful, her honey Joe Gammicchia, her siblings Jeanne Wilcox, Fran (Harold) Andrews, Thomas (Barb) Malbouef, George (Ruth) Malbouef, Josetta (Greg Hartzog) Mushaka, Joseph (Chris) Malbouef, Rosemary Wickett, Mary (Jerry) Battaglia, and ex-husband/friend Amin El Fakir, as well as many, many nieces and nephews who cannot imagine the annual camping trip without Ta Ta Judy there. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Jeanette, and her sister Elaine Blender.
