Kevin B. Richards

Kevin Bleurer Richards, a resident of Sterling Heights, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the age of 58. He was born on February 28, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, to William and Elizabeth Richards. Kevin attended St. Mary High School in Royal Oak before pursuing college classes with Oakland and Macomb Community Colleges. He was the proud owner of Residential Craftmasters, Inc. Kevin's life was marked by a vibrant personality and a master of all trades. There was nothing he didn't do. Whether building houses, mastering electrical work, or showcasing an impeccable memory, Kevin's intelligence knew no bounds. He often entertained his family with practical jokes, from sending them on humorous errands for blinker fluid or a "canootin valve," to sharing scary stories before bedtime. He was a master at jump scares. Kevin had a deep love for science fiction movies, MASH, Supernatural, the Flash, Superman, and the Simpsons. His sense of humor and quick wit made him the life of any gathering. He excelled in trivia and he could have easily triumphed on game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Family time held a special place in Kevin's heart, and Sundays were dedicated to church, card games, dinner, and family gatherings. He enjoyed poker and barbeques with family. Kevin's adventurous spirit led him to participate in unique experiences like a chocolate milk drinking contest. A true foodie, Kevin and his wife, Rhonda, embarked on culinary adventures to Jamaica for jerky, Maine for lobster, Mexico for tamales, Wisconsin for cheese, and Florida for shark, caught by Rhonda and cooked by Kevin. He enjoyed fishing on charter boats, hunting deer, golfing, bowling, and camping around Michigan. Kevin's spontaneous nature was evident in spur-of-the-moment trips, from Niagara Falls to original restaurant locations across the country. Beloved husband of Rhonda, Loving father of Jayson (Josh Watson) Richards, Nicole (Rodger Wentworth) Richards, Christine (David Krajewski) Richards, and Kevin M. F. Richards. Cherished grandfather of Annabelle and Domminic Wentworth, Heidi Peace, Holly Peace, Hannah Peace, Kevin W. K. Richards, and Hope Peace. Dear brother to Elizabeth (Lawrence) Schurg, Daniel (Linda) Richards, Mary Richards, David Richards, and brother-in-law to Patricia Richards. Kevin was preceded in death by his brothers, William Richards, Jr. and Patrick Richards; and sister Barbara Richards. A visitation for Kevin will be held on Saturday, January 20, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and on Sunday, January 21, from 1:00 to 8:00 pm at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Directors, 8459 Hall Rd., Utica, 48317. Kevin will lie in state on Monday, January 22, from 9:30 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 12311 19 Mile Rd., Sterling Heights, 48313. Kevin will be laid to rest following a procession to Christian Memorial Gardens West in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
