Lloyd R. Michael Sr.

Lloyd Ralph Michael Sr., a cherished resident of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, in Clinton Township, Michigan, at the age of 90. He was born on December 30, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to his loving parents the late George Hilary and Frances (nee' Meduna) Michael. Lloyd's journey through life was marked by notable accomplishments and a deep commitment to his family and community. He completed his education at Saint Martin High School in Detroit, Michigan, graduating with the Class of 1952. Following his graduation, Lloyd answered the call to serve his country and proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. After his honorable service in the Navy, Lloyd embarked on a successful career in the automotive industry. He dedicated over three decades of his life to Chrysler Corporation, working diligently and retiring in 1987 after a remarkable 30-year tenure. Following his retirement, Lloyd found joy and fulfillment in contributing to the family greenhouse, offering his time and expertise to nurture the beauty of nature. Lloyd possessed a zest for life and had a variety of interests that brought him happiness. He enjoyed scratching off lottery tickets, engaging in crossword puzzles, and spending quality time with his beloved grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was socializing at the Oakland County Farmers Market, where he connected with others and relished the vibrant atmosphere. Lloyd was a devoted husband to his late wife, Ann Michael (nee' Krajnak), and a loving father to his children, Lloyd R. (Deborah) Michael Jr., the late Thomas George Michael, and the late Mark Paul Michael. He cherished his daughter-in-law, Sue Michael, and took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Emma (Tony) Elliott, Marc (Desirea D'Epifanio) Michael, Rachel Michael, Phoenix Michael, Colt Michael, Brian Michael, Lauren Michael, and the late Christopher Ryan Michael. Lloyd's love extended to his great-grandchildren, Ella Elliott, Myla Elliott, and Leighton Louise Michael, who brought him immeasurable joy. Lloyd was also a caring brother-in-law to Michael (Vickie) Krajnak and held a special place as godfather to Amy (Matthew) Dressler. Additionally, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews whose lives he impacted in profound ways. Family and friends will be gathering on Tuesday, June 20 at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Rd. (3 Blks E. of Van Dyke) Utica from 3-8pm . A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 21 at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church 48115 Schoenherr Road Shelby Twp (Btwn 21-22 Mile Road) with a gathering starting at 9:30am until the time of the mass at 10:00 am. Lloyd will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Ann at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Utica, Michigan. As we bid farewell to Lloyd, let us remember the warmth of his smile, the kindness in his heart, and the cherished memories he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his family and friends find solace in the enduring love and beautiful legacy he shared with them.
