Lourdes C. Lim

Lourdes C Lim of Berkley, Michigan, passed away on May 27, 2026, at age 82. Lourdes was born in the province of Basilan in The Philippines, graduated from the Catholic College, and then taught in the Catholic High School there for 10 years. Later, Lourdes immigrated to the United States along with her brother and sister, Roque and Juanita. There, they joined their mother, Maria, and sister, Pacita, who were already living in Michigan. Lourdes completed Cosmetology School, and worked many years as a Hair Stylist at Crowleys, Jacobsons, and Sharon's Beauty Salon in Birmingham, Michigan. Upon retirement, Lourdes accepted a new role as "Chef" in the Rectory of the National Shrine of the Little Flower where she prepared and served special meals for many years. Lourdes was a faith-filled woman who attended daily Mass and was also devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was faithful to her hour of Adoration each week in the Adoration Chapel, and she was a Eucharistic Minister to the Catholic residents at Waltonwood Assisted Living every Monday for several years In her free time, Lourdes loved gardening, and spending time with her family. Throughout her life Lourdes enjoyed pilgrimages to many holy places: the Holy Land, the Vatican, Lourdes, Oberammergau, Medjugorje and the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico. Lourdes was a full-spirited woman! She will be remembered as the loving sister of Perla (the late Wilfredo) Zerna, Pacita (the late Sebastian) Knight, Juanita Lim, Roque (Eleanor) Lim, and the late Lim Siu Biao and Cesar (survived by Medy) Lim. She is also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, from 4--8 p.m. with Rosary and Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd. (four blocks east of Woodward). The Funeral Mass for Lourdes will be celebrated on Thursday, June 4 at 10:00 a.m. (in-state at 9:30 a.m.) at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, 2100 Twelve Mile Rd., Royal Oak, MI 48073.
