Mary T. Butler

Mary T. Butler, a longtime resident of Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at the age of 97. Mary was born on June 8, 1929, in Ferndale, Michigan, to the late Timothy and Anne Foran. She grew up surrounded by a loving family and shared a lifelong bond with her siblings, Anthony, Rita, Virginia, and Timothy. On June 11, 1949, Mary married the love of her life, Harold Butler, at St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and devotion to one another. Harold preceded her in death on April 26, 1993. Mary was a dedicated employee of GB Dupont, where she worked for many years before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Above all else, Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her cherished children: Mary (Richard) Pinkham, Hal (Jennifer) Butler, Tim Butler, Marcia Butler, Nancy (Ray) Kattoo, Sandra (Mel) Johnson, Thomas (Vicki) Butler, David (Trish) Butler, Tina Butler, and Steven Butler. She was the proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and the loving great-grandmother of 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and happiness. Mary will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, strength, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she so dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Butler; her parents, Timothy and Anne Foran; and her siblings, Anthony, Rita, Virginia, and Timothy. Mary's family finds comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with those who went before her and that her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026 from 5-7:00 pm with a 6:30 pm Rosary at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors, 705 W 11 Mile Road (4 blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak. Mary will lie in state Monday, June 29, 2026 from 9:30 am until the time of Mass 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 S. Lafayette, Royal Oak.
