Mary Lazaris

Mary Irene Lazaris, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece godmother, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on April 19, 2024. She was 83 years old. Born on July 17, 1940, in Detroit, MI, Mary lived a life marked by dedication, love, and boundless generosity. Mary was a woman of great intellect and accomplishment. She was a first generation graduate from Walsh College with a bachelor's degree in business. At a time when women weren't as respected in the workforce, she trail-blazed her way successfully into a career in accounting and was able to provide a living for her family independently. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in all she did, as well as recognized by many. Beyond her professional achievements, Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for playing cards, particularly euchre and poker, and could often be found engaged in a good book or challenging puzzle. She had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and was always eager to learn. Mary's greatest source of pride and happiness, however, was her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to the well-being and success of her three daughters: Georgia, Elizabeth, and Christine. Whether it was volunteering at their school, rooting for them at their athletic events, or providing unwavering support and encouragement, Mary was always there for her girls. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters: Georgia (Jay), Elizabeth (Derek), and Christine (Doug); her grandchildren: Kristin, Brian, Dominick, and Roman; and her siblings: Lisa and Les. She is preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Kreazi, and siblings, Irene (Dick), Peter (Sandy), and Frank (Vickie). Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Directors, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica, MI on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in St. Clair Shores, MI, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, with Instate beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Mary will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, MI.
