Patricia Ann O'Leary

Patricia Ann O'Leary, age 88, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born March 2, 1929 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Cora "Minnie" Gorman. Patricia grew up in East Grand Forks, attended Sacred Heart School and graduated in 1947. She married Duane F. O'Leary, the love of her life, on December 30, 1948. The two left Minnesota and settled down in Detroit, Michigan after a brief stay in Kansas. Patricia loved working with people in various capacities at Sperry Vickers, the US Postal Service, McDonalds and Federal's. Where Patricia truly enjoyed working was at hospice, consoling terminally ill patients. She was a devout Catholic and was an Extraordinary Minister at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tawas City, Michigan. Patricia loved traveling and spending time visiting with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to be outdoors and "be one with nature." Gardening was her all-time favorite passion and her favorite season was autumn. She loved the beautiful color changes, raking the yard and the smell of burning leaves. Patricia and Duane spent many fun-filled years living up north on Bass Lake and in National City. They moved to Troy about 8 years ago to be close to their family! Patricia loved music and played her organ at home and was a member of her church choir. She enjoyed playing cards, working puzzles, watching game shows and spending the holidays with her extended family and friends! She loved attending concerts, plays and sporting events to proudly cheer on her children and grandchildren. She loved surprise parties, birthday celebrations and treasured moments spent with family, friends and neighbors! Her smile, laugh and energy will be sorely missed by all! Patricia is the beloved wife of Duane. Loving mother of her five children, Kathy Serio, Lee (Dee), Teri (Jerry) Tewilliager, Tim (Lenny) and Paul (Michele). She's a proud grandmother of Lauren, Kate, Jared, Britta, Lydia, Ellie and Devan. She is the great grandmother of Noah, Lincoln, Sawyer, Brandon, Sage and the late Mason. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass 10:30 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 581 E. 14 Mile Road, Clawson, MI 48017. Burial at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, Patricia requested donations be made to support Beaumont Hospice.
