Paul J. Kruse

Paul J. Kruse, age 78, died February 10, 2024 in Shelby Township. He was born August 7, 1945 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Paul E. and Mary M. (nee Griffin) Kruse. Loving, caring and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Paul entered into eternal life with family by his side, he is survived by his children Mary (Jim) Kruse-Jacks, Jean (Craig) Irwin, Lorrie (Kevin) Kruse, Nancy (Dave) Ewald and Jade Kruse, his brothers Robert and Alan and sister Suzy. He is predeceased by his wife of almost 53 years, Anna, his daughter Katie and sons Joseph and Patrick. Papa Paul was the proud grandfather to Brenna, Alexis, Jack, Kyle, Matthew, Benjamin, Andrew, Emma and Owen. Paul grew up in the country enjoying camping and playing with his siblings and cousins. After high school he set off to GMI in Flint, MI to pursue his love of cars and engineering. It was while working for General Motors, his lifetime employer of 43 years, that he met the love of his life Annie in Cleveland while on a blind date. They married and welcomed three daughters in Ohio and later settled in Michigan growing the rest of their family. He was a master gardener (farmer Jack) that loved tractor pulls, road trips back home to Pennsylvania and asking his children out of the blue trivia questions which when given the correct answer he always followed up with " well you know why that is, don't you?". Paul also enjoyed collecting car literature, fixing and riding bicycles, reading and watching sci-fi like Star Trek. He introduced his daughters to the original HGTV - This Old House and Victory Garden. Paul's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandkids. Paul was a genuine blessing to his family - he will be forever loved and missed. The Kruse family will receive friends on Thursday, February 15th from 2:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks east of Van Dyke Avenue on the north side of Hall Road) Utica. On Friday, February 16th he will lie in state at 10:30 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 54045 Schoenherr Road (north of 25 Mile Road), Shelby Township, Michigan.
