Rhonda Marie Falkenbury

On the morning of Saturday, August 22, 2026, Rhonda Falkenbury passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home. Rhonda was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 18, 1951. She spent her early childhood years in Royal Oak, Michigan, where she attended Whittier Elementary School, Clara Barton Junior High School, and Dondero High School, graduating in 1969. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Donald Falkenbury, whom she married on May 1, 1971. Rhonda went on to attend beauty school, where she began her journey as a hairdresser, a career that spanned more than 50 years. Throughout her profession, she touched countless lives, including those who sat in her chair and the many colleagues who became cherished friends. Over the years, Rhonda formed lasting friendships with people from all walks of life, each of whom she loved dearly. As a wife and mother, her strength, compassion, grace, and sense of humor helped create a home filled with unconditional love and acceptance for all. Rhonda enjoyed watching her family grow, traveling to new destinations, and playing games around the dining room table. A longtime resident of Royal Oak, with periods of residence in Detroit, Troy, and Waterford, Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Doris Edwards; her parents-in-law, Jack and Liz Falkenbury; and her brother, Garrick Edwards. She is survived by her husband, Donald Falkenbury; her sister, Vicky Arlt (Gerald - deceased); her brother, Robert Edwards (Michelle); her brother-in-law, Dave Falkenbury (Gale); her children, April Ruszkiewicz (Garrett) and Douglas Falkenbury (Shurea); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hunt, Sinai Falkenbury, and Oakley Ruszkiewicz; and her great-grandson, Colton. Rhonda was also a loving aunt to five nieces and three nephews. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, located at 705 W. Eleven Mile Road (4 blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak, Michigan 48067. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 29, at 11:00 a.m. The family asks that flowers be sent directly to Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rhonda Falkenbury's memory to the American Heart Association or the United Service Organizations (USO).
