Richard Fitzpatrick

Richard "Rick/Rich" Raymond Fitzpatrick, age 56, passed away on July 23, 2026, in Sterling Heights. He was born on December 10, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly (Henry) Alter and Richard Fitzpatrick, his grandparents, Francis and Robert Fitzpatrick, Ruth and Steve Lucatch. He is lovingly survived by his siblings, Robert Fitzpatrick and Cynthia (Mike) McMillan; his nephew, Michael Klein; his great-niece, Starr Klein; his aunt, Joyce (the late Rich) Paraski; his uncle, Steve Lucatch; his step siblings, Vicky (Sam) Thompson, Karen (Hal) Bradley, and Rob (Sandy) Alter; along with many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Rick was a true free spirit a wild child who embraced adventure and lived life on his own terms. Over the years, he ventured south, making a living through hard work and determination in a variety of trades. Whether he was welding, working on boats, cooking, catering, care giving, or taking on whatever opportunity came his way, Rick was never afraid of rolling up his sleeves and trying something new. In 2016, he returned to Michigan to reconnect with the family and friends he loved. He treasured the simple pleasures in life: playing cards and horseshoes with his nephew and cousins, relaxing with friends at the local bar, and sharing stories and laughter with those around him. Rick also took great pride in his tattoos, often saying they were his way of "expressing himself and his art on his body." They reflected his unique personality and the life experiences that shaped him. Later in life, Rick lived with his close friend, Mel, where he selflessly helped care for Mel's wife during her illness. His willingness to help others spoke to the kindness that existed beneath his adventurous exterior. Rick believed life was meant to be lived one day at a time. He often reminded those around him of what truly mattered: work hard, pay your bills, enjoy a good vacation, and make time to have fun. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, his family finds comfort in imagining him reunited in Heaven with those who went before him "Mom, Dad, and Nan" who loved him dearly. Love you, Brother. Until we meet again. A memorial service celebrating Rick's life will be held at a later date.
