Ruth E. Gugel

Ruth E. Gugel She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as the youngest of Pastor Edwin and Ruth Kringel's three children. After graduating from Concordia in Seward, Nebraska, Ruth earned her master's degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She dedicated 14 years of her life to teaching in the Lutheran schools. She taught 12 of those years at St. Peter's in Eastpointe, Michigan. In 1972, she married Harold W. Gugel and together they were blessed with two sons. In 1996, tragically Harold at the age of 56, was called home to heaven after an 18-month battle with cancer. Now, Ruth can join him in singing praises to our gracious Savior. Throughout the years, Ruth found joy in engaging in various volunteer activities. Her hobbies included baking, needlework, reading, and traveling, particularly to her cottage in Gladwin, Michigan. Ruth leaves behind her beloved sons, Mark (Kristin) and Dave Gugel, as well as her precious grandchildren, Madison and Jack. She is also survived by her sister, Grace (Dale) Miller, her brother, Pastor Art (Dottie) Kringel, and numerous nieces and nephews. As the family mourns the loss of Ruth, they celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, and her legacy will continue to inspire us. May she rest in eternal peace. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks east of Van Dyke Avenue) Utica. Wednesday, July 31st, 2024, there will be additional visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 45160 Van Dyke Avenue (northeast corner of Van Dyke Avenue and Hall Road/M-59) Utica.
