Samuel Gafencu

Sam loved Jesus with all of his heart. With his final breaths, he praised God, singing, "You are worthy of it all, You are worthy of it all!" Although his life on earth was short, it was well-lived. He was dearly loved by all who met him. He was born to Cornel and Michelle Gafencu on March 12th, 1995 in Ypsilanti, MI. He married his best friend and love of his life, Sara Gafencu. They were together for 8 and a half years, and married for over 6 years, marrying on March 16, 2019. He is survived by his parents, Cornel and Michelle Gafencu, Calin and Daniela Derecichei. His siblings, Christine (David) Stamate, Sarah (Fineas), Anthony (Abby) Derecichei, Mathew (Jasmine) Derecichei. Sam had many loves in life; first Jesus, then his wife Sara, and his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had many passions, including; fishing, music, wood-working, traveling, cooking, gardening, learning new skills, working on cars, and mission work. In all that Sam pursued, he pursued it in excellence. He completed his bachelors in business in May of 2017, and his doctorate of dental surgery in May of 2021. He enjoyed serving others, and performing surgeries in his time as a Dentist, and traveling on dental mission trips. In December 2024, Sam was diagnosed with AML. He faithfully fought his battle with cancer, believing that Jesus was with him through it all. Despite his suffering, he continued to love others, and tell them about the good news of Jesus. Surrounded by his wife and family, He went to be with Jesus on June 28th, 2025. Although our hearts are heavy with his loss, we acknowledge that he is in the presence of his savior Jesus Christ, completely healed, and living forever. We joyfully await the day when we can be reunited with him in heaven. A Visitation for Samuel will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 4:00 pm until time of Funeral Service at 6:00 pm at Alleluia Romanian Pentecostal Church of God, 46500 N. Territorial Rd., Plymouth, MI 48170. Samuel will be laid to rest on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 11:00 am at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Michigan.
