Shannon R. Wood

Shannon Ray Wood passed away on Sunday, August 25th at the age of 42. He was the beloved son of Larry Dennis and Priscilla Jean Wood; the cherished grandson of Irene and the late James Hibdon and the late Lorraine and the late Eunice Wood; the dear brother of Scott (Suzi) Wood, Steve (Stephanie) Wood) Stephanie (Jim) McDonald and Shawn (Courtney) Wood; the proud uncle of Kayla, Zachary, Makenzie, Peyton, Liam, Rowan, Elowen and Noah; and the adored nephew of many aunts and uncles and was loved by many cousins. Shannon participated in many winter and summer camps growing up where he enjoyed rock climbing, zip lining, boating and archery. Shannon loved playing team sports while he was extremely active with the Special Olympics and the Parks and Recreation for over 30 years. He enjoyed baseball and bocce ball in which allowed him the opportunity to travel all the way to London, England to compete. Shannon was an avid bowler and was proud of his high game of 190. In his spare time, Shannon liked to go to Partridge Creek Mall to listen to the music concerts being played there. It was one of Shannon's joys to go to Florida during the winter to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine. He loved having the freedom to go to all over the park at Disney World, and explore in his wheelchair. One of Shannon's proudest accomplishments was graduating from Macomb Community College with a degree in General Business. Shannon was a member of the Detroit Church; an independent Baptist congregation that meets in Utica, Michigan. Shannon would want everyone to know that he loved the Lord and he loved his church. Shannon was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. We are comforted in knowing Shannon walked on his own into the arms of Jesus. Shannon's family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. A private entombment will take place at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
