Thomas J. Dailey

Thomas Jerry Dailey, age 83, was born in Howell, MI, on January 12, 1941 and passed away on June 4, 2024 at Core-well Health Beaumont Hospital in Troy, MI. Thomas was lovingly married for 62 years to Nancy Carol Dailey (nee Loose), his high school sweetheart. He is survived by his sister Kathi (Randy) Houseman; three children, James and Jennifer Dailey, Keith Dailey, and Denise (Dailey) DeSantis; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Tracey Daniels) DeSantis, Jeremy (Molly Preisel) DeSantis, Jessica (Patrick Murphy) Dailey, and Jasmine (Gustavo Medina) Dailey; one great grandchild, Nina Grace (Daniels) DeSantis; niece Krista Houseman; and nephew Gerald and Kimara Houseman, and their children Harlow and Hunter Houseman. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Carol (Loose) Dailey, and his parents Gerald "Judd" and Beulah "Bea" (House) Dailey. Thomas was born on January 12, 1941, in Howell, MI. He graduated from Roseville High School, Roseville, MI, in 1958 and pursued higher education from both the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI, and LIT (now known as Lawrence Technological University) in Southfield, MI. He was a versatile and skilled craftsman and designer in the automotive industry having spent most of his career as a wood model maker, metal model maker, clay model maker, and project coordinator at General Motors where he eventually retired. Prior to General Motors, he worked at Control Data, Visioneering, and Bull Dog Electric. Thomas had a very special gift of making others smile and feel special. He set the bar for his love of family, care for others, kindness to all, compassion for animals, gratitude for life's gifts, and appreciation for all those who served (or are currently serving) our country. He was a provider and protector. To family and friends, he was the "go-to" person for everything from matters of the heart, life's philosophies, daily happenings, gratitude reminders, antique cars, and anything that needed to be fixed. The family often joked, "If Grandpa can't fix it, no one can!" He left this life praying for the goodwill, peace and contentment for all. Thomas' family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica, MI. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 11, from 10 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 1 p.m. Memorials can be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America or the Humane Society of Michigan.
