Thomas Gibbs

Thomas Chester Gibbs (3/24/79 - 12/20/25) On December 20th 2025, Thomas passed away peacefully in his sleep. Thomas was a loving husband to Sarah, devoted father to Isaiah, Eliana, Grace, and Noah, cherished son to Matthew and the late Charlene Sabotka, caring brother to Danell (Jennifer), Marty (Paula), Tracy (Norm) Kanapsky, Amanda, Tara, Aaron, Candice, Joshua, Jordan, Chelsea. Thomas was also a proud uncle to Anthony, Camryn, Brandyn, Anna, Grace, and Brianna. Cherished son-in-law to Ruth and the late James Bradley, brother-in-law to Caitlin (Andrew) Clemens, and loyal friend to many. He was someone who gave his whole heart to the people he loved, and his presence made life fuller for everyone around him. Thomas had a larger-than-life personality. His energy was felt the moment he entered the room, by his humor and his unmistakable laugh. He was full of wit and sarcasm, always ready with a quick remark or perfectly timed joke. Making people smile came naturally to him, and he took genuine joy in bringing laughter and warmth to others. He loved to travel, explore new places, and create memories that would last a lifetime. Thomas especially enjoyed curating memorable vacations for the love of his life, Sarah. Thomas embraced life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the moments shared with those he loved most. Most summer weekends you could find Thomas hosting pool parties for friends and family, but most often his days were filled by cheering for his kids on the basketball court, the soccer field or the baseball field. He took great pride in watching his oldest son begin his college education at Oakland University. Above all else, Thomas will be remembered for his kindness, his love for family, and the way he made people truly feel seen and valued. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his spirit, laughter, and love will live on forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (three blocks east of Van Dyke), Utica.
