Victor Surovec

Victor Anthony Surovec, Age 80, died September 14, 2019 at his home in Royal Oak. He was born in Detroit on January 28, 1939 to Victor and Anne (nee Tranovich). Dear father of Debbie (Patrick) Craik, John Judge, Michael (Marie) Surovec, Victor Kenneth (Yasmine) Surovec and the late Shirley Kapler. Proud grandfather and great grandfather of many! Brother of Dennis Surovec and Ron (Carol) Surovec. You will be missed Dad. Thank you for being part of our life. We'll always remember your life stories and how each time you told us the same story, somehow there was always another thing that we learned, another detail that we didn't know, always glad to hear how life used to be. You honorably served your County with the Seabees while enlisted with the U.S Navy and were so proud of your service. We remember you telling us before you met our mother, how you wanted a family and when you met our mother and got married you had an instant family with Deb, John and Shirley. But soon our family of five became a family of seven with Michael and Kenny. You worked hard as a carpenter your entire life to provide for your us, through broken bones, in the bitter winter and hot summers. You were a strong family man who taught us morals, honesty, compassion and integrity. You loved your grandchildren and your greatest joy was in watching their excitement at Christmas opening their gifts. The last time you were with the grandkids, you wanted a rubber band so you could show Ian how to make his airplane fly high into the sky. You will always be a part of us, we will always remember your stories, your sense of humor (the best) and your compassion for others less fortunate. And that no matter what, we are fortunate to have the life that we do and to quote one of your most famous sayings "it could be worse." Love you always and forever…see you when you're a little older. Visitation Friday, September 20, 2-8 pm. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705. W. 11 Mile Rd., Royal Oak (4 blocks east of Woodward). Funeral will take place Saturday at 1 pm, at the funeral home.
