August 31, 1928 - August 1, 2021
Angeline "Angie" Plewka (nee Matievich) took her last breath on Earth and first breath in heaven on August 1, 2021 at the age of 92. She passed away in her family home under the loving care of her children and Seasons Hospice. Angie was a resident of Holly and former resident of Royal Oak. A daughter of Jack and Barbara (nee Relac), she was born on August 31, 1928 in Detroit. Angie married the love of her life, Art, on her 18th birthday in Detroit. Mom. Grandma. Baba. Sister. Aunt. Cousin. Friend. These are the relationships that Angie cherished so deeply. She always said, "Family is Love." Even with a large family, she could remember every birthday, graduation, and anniversary. Angie was a master puzzler who also enjoyed reading, music, singing, and whistling (especially "If I Were a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof). She loved to hold babies and bake Christmas cookies, and was very proud of her Croatian heritage. A woman of steadfast faith, Angie read her Bible every day and trusted God in her heart. Loving mother of Art (Sue) of Whitehall, MI; the late Carol (Ted); Patty (Steve) Johnston of Royal Oak, MI; Toni (Tom) Lawrance of Fenton, MI; Mark (Robin Dodson) of Orono, MN; Kathy (Steve) Lata of St. Louis, MO; and Sue (Bill) Klasing. Cherished grandma of Sean (Renee), Lara (Jay), Benjamin (Nicole), Eric (Lindsay), Jack (Heather), Audrey (Eric), Daniel (Leslie), Scott (Lindsay), and Andy (Julia). Treasured great grandma "Baba" of Wills, Angelina, Bennett, Lilliana, Jackson, Izzy, Elise, Avery, Dax, Evelyn, and Naomi. She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors. Angie was greeted in heaven by her husband, Art; daughter, Carol; her parents, Jack and Barbara; siblings, John, Ann Gavlinski, Jack, Steve, Steffi Varady, Barbara Washer, and Bill; and she will hold her granddaughter, Anna. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 12, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a 6:30 pm prayer service at Wm. Sullivan and Son, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd., (4 blocks E. of Woodward), Royal Oak, 48067. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery to take place at a later date. Angie's family asks that all non-vaccinated guests please wear a face covering during the visitation and service. Memorial donations in Angie's memory may be made to The Rock Church (The Box). A personal donation from Angie was planned to Seasons Hospice in gratitude for 5 months of compassionate, loving care, and the Hope Scarves Metastatic Breast Cancer Research Fund in honor of her granddaughter, Lara. *Please note: Angie's memorial service at The Rock Church on Friday has been cancelled due to the current power outage.
