September 6, 1939 - May 13, 2021
Carol Marie Souder (nee Boor), a resident of Hazel Park, passed away on May 13, 2021 at the age of 81. A daughter of Eugene and Ruby Boor. She was born on September 6, 1939 in Detroit, MI in their family home. Beloved wife of ElDean, joined in love and marriage for 63 years. Loving mother of Cheryl, Tamela and Lisa (Dave). Cherished grandmother of Melissa (Steve), Samuel (Mary), Rachel, James, Dana, Kandace (Skylar), Sabriena (Mark), Valerie (Eddie), Joshua and Christina. Treasured great-grand mother of 20. Dear sister of Virginia (Dave), Gerald (Alice), Margaret (Syrous), Vicky (Rich), Lou Ann and Dianna (Ron). She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Bryan Dean and William, brother David and sister Sue Ann. Carol loved so many things some of which were: laughter, prayer, reading her Bible, her husband, her family and our Lord and Savior. She liked a good secret, shopping, dressing up with lots of color and sparkle. She use to say "it's always better to over dress than under dress". She especially enjoyed animal print clothing and lots of bling. The best part of her ensemble was always her fun loving heart, big beautiful smile and infectious laughter. Carol worked as a "Case Manager" doing the job of a community Social Worker, she excelled at what she did.Twice she was promoted to positions of authority without having the required bachelor degree. Her smarts, commitment to excellence and actions that stemmed from her deep love for people earned her those promotions. She was always well liked and formed friendships with her co-workers. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing, bowling, camping, making the best Christmas cookies, visiting her many neighborhood friends, volunteering at her children's school and she was very involved in the church. She volunteered at the Church of God 7th Day as the church secretary for many years. She loved to counsel and pray with people. When you felt your world crashing down around you and it seemed hopeless, she had the amazing ability to bring you healing, comfort and hope. She was great in a crisis and with broken hearts! She pointed you to Jesus knowing he is our ready help in time of trouble and in times of victory. She would lock arms with you, jump on your band wagon, your cause would become hers, you knew you were not alone in the the fight she had your back. She would cuddle you, cry with you, write letters, make phone calls or what ever it took to help you get back on track. Carol was also a gifted writer, it came easy for her. She helped more than one family member achieve "A" grades on college papers she helped them with. She was a devoted wife who loved fiercely and supported her husband through life's challenges as well as triumphs. Her husband could always count on her. His heart was forever safe and secure in her hands. He arose as do her children with praise in their hearts and call her blessed. Carol helped raise some of her grandchildren, she regularly babysat, she dearly loved all her grands and great grands. They all held a very special place in her heart. Like her Mama before her she felt babies that were the "bright spots" in life. Carol's love for her family was only surpassed by her love for God. It was her deepest desire to hear the Lord say, " well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord". If God were to pull back the curtains of heaven to reveal a glimpse, we may see Carol in the front row, all smiles, worshiping at his throne of grace, singing exuberantly in her precious soprano voice, with her hands lifted high to her Savior, who she loved and adored so much. Mom we love you dearly, you are forever in our hearts! We are better for having had you in our lives and words are not enough to express all that you meant to us. You are "our great big beautiful doll"! Thank you for loving us, for your sacrifices, your generosity and all our precious loving memories. Thank you for teaching us to love hard, forgive quick, to be loyal and above all to accept Jesus as our Savior! Rest now pretty girl, in the arms of Jesus until we meet again....OXOX Thank you Jesus for her smile! Carol will lie in state on Tuesday, May 18, from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 pm at Church of the Nazarene, 696 E. Mahan Ave., Hazel Park 48030. Carol will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to Springvale Academy, 4150 S. M-52, Owosso, MI 48867.
