Daniel Zaniewski

February 15, 1953 - March 22, 2022

Dan Zaniewski, a hardworking father and husband who never lost hope when faced with a challenge, died March 22, 2022. He was 69. Dan grew up in Detroit near Hamtramck. He was extremely proud of his Polish heritage and deeply devoted to his Catholic faith. He had a special affinity for the Blessed Mother. As a boy, he often prayed before a Blessed Mother statue that stood outside a church near his home. Dan served as the director of medical imaging at Doctor’s and Holy Cross hospitals in Detroit. He was often praised for his management skills and ability to get people to work together. He loved working on projects around the house and outside in his yard. He planted beautiful flowers and made sure that his lawn was the greenest on the block. He was also a phenomenal cook. Golabki, or cabbage rolls, were among his specialties. Despite his tough exterior, Dan had a gentle spirit, a good heart and a sense of humor. He had a soft spot for animals (especially dogs) and would drop everything to help a family member in need. He faced health challenges in recent years and tried to use his suffering to draw closer to God. Dan is survived by his wife, daughter, son, sister, brother and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. April 2, with visitation at 9 a.m., at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 4571 John R Rd., Troy, MI 48085. Inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Family kindly requests no flowers.
