Diane Ruth Bailey

Diane Ruth Bailey (nee Taylor), 74, of Krum, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on October 10, 2019, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Diane was born on December 28, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to Claire and Mary (nee Danaj) Taylor and was the baby sister to her two older brothers, Robert (Maxine) Taylor and Ronnie Taylor. She met the love of her life, Larry Francis Bailey while he attended barber college in Hamtramck. She and Larry married on May 29, 1965, celebrating 50 years of love prior to Larry's passing in 2015. Larry and Diane moved to Shelby Township with their young boys, Wayne and Brian, in theearly 1970's, where they renovated and expanded their home on Brentwood Drive. Diane worked in Utica Community Schools as a special education para-professional and spoke often of the teachers, principals, and most especially the students she loved over the years. Diane and Larry spent much of their free time traveling up north to visit family on Sanford Lake. She loved camping in Cadillac, Michigan, and fishing for walleye on Lake St. Clair. She also stayed active by playing cards with friends and served many years with Larry in the Lions Club. She looked forward to Friday night bowling league and was most proud of her 200-game-award. Over the years, Larry and Diane took an interest in classic cars and cruised to many car shows in their vintage Chrysler Cordoba listening to oldies, including many Elvis and Johnny Cash hits. Diane and her beloved cat, Dolly, relocated to Texas in 2018, where she loved sitting outside on the back porch, taking in the sights and sounds of farm living. She was especially fond of the baby goats and insisted on feeding the goats and donkey as her farm-chore. Diane is survived by her two sons and their families: Wayne (Toni) Bailey and Brian (Dawn) Bailey. She has five grandchildren: Rachel (Lyle) Piepszowski, Ricky (Danielle) Tartamella, Jonathan (Rachel) Cannon, Shawn Bailey, and Joshua (Lauren) Cannon. Diane was also most proud of her six great-grandchildren: Delyla Rae, Troy, Julianna, Cole, Lucina, and Kimber. Visitation will be held at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica, on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. with private family crematory services to follow.
