Donald B. Foshey

Donald Bruce Foshey, age 63, of Royal Oak, passed away on August 12, 2020 at the Ascension Macomb-Oakland St. John Hospital in Madison Heights. He was born to Melvin and Margaret "Peggy" Foshey on September 22, 1956 in Detroit Michigan. Don went to Henry Ford High School and graduated in 1974. He then went on to be a student at Wayne State University for several years landing a job there at the library in 1977 and worked his way through many facets of the University. He ultimately worked up to the position of Administrative Assistant II in the Division of Laboratory Animal Resources where he remained until his passing. Don served as a very dedicated and proud member to his Local 1979 Union at Wayne State University. Even serving as the Vice President for a period of time. Don was known for his drive to acquire knowledge. He was like a living encyclopedia, especially when it came to Civil War, Titanic, Egyptian, political, and movie history. When Don would meet people, he loved to learn things about them and even the ancestry behind them. Because of this passion for knowledge, Don loved playing trivia games—his favorite being undoubtedly “Jeopardy.” He was a social butterfly among his friends to say the least. Don made people laugh and feel very comfortable around him. He enjoyed being a good host for game nights and movie nights. And he especially loved making people happy at Christmas time, by hosting a Christmas dinner and making sure EVERYBODY there had a gift from Santa. He and Scott were also world travelers who were fortunate enough to visit St. Petersburg, Russia, Finland, Amsterdam, the Bahamas, and Uddevalla, Sweden, along with a variety of destinations around the United States. Donald was the loving husband of Scott Anderson. The couple met in 1996 and were married on August 16, 2014 in Minnesota. Dear brother of Joan (the late William) Bennett. Proud uncle of Jeffrey Bennett, Keith (Lori) Bennett, and great uncle of Matt (Nichole) Bennett, Mark Bennett, Brian Bennett, Ava Bennett, Skylar Bennett, John Bennett and (Chris), Meagan Bennett, and Kimberly Waldren. He was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Margaret "Peggy" Foshey, and his in-laws, the late Jack and Donna Anderson. He will also be missed by his loving pets, Stormy and Pandora. Visitation will take place Monday, August 17, 4 p.m. until time of service, 7 p.m., at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd., Royal Oak (4 blks E. of Woodward). Due to Covid-19 guidelines, attendees inside the funeral home will be limited to ten at any one time. Memorial contributions to the Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan are appreciated. **Due to COVID-19 guidelines, please be advised that the funeral home is limited to 10 people in the visitation/service room at any given time.
