George T. Jones, "GT" December 10, 1943- February 9, 2024 George T. Jones, aged 80, unexpectedly passed away on February 9, 2024, in Lincoln Park. He was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Detroit, where he laid the foundation for a remarkable career in law enforcement. Following his graduation, GT embarked on a dedicated journey in public service, beginning with his tenure at the Detroit Police Department. With unwavering commitment and dedication, he served the department for over 25 years, leaving an indelible mark on the community he swore to protect. Throughout his illustrious career, George showcased exceptional skills and a sharp intellect, earning him various roles within the department, including pivotal positions in vice and homicide. His tireless efforts and keen investigative prowess earned him the esteemed title of detective, a role in which he excelled and made significant contributions to the safety and security of the city he called home. Even after his retirement from the Detroit Police Department, GT's passion for serving the community remained steadfast. He continued his noble pursuit of justice by joining the ranks of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to upholding the law. George's unwavering dedication to his profession and his unwavering commitment to justice will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His legacy of service and integrity will continue to inspire generations of law enforcement professionals to come. In addition to his distinguished career, GT was an avid reader and found solace in meditation. He cherished spending time with his family, often taking his children, grandchildren, and nephews to the movies on Saturdays. His love for his family was unparalleled, and he will be most remembered for his devotion to his children and grandchildren. George is survived by his wife, Flora, and lovingly remembered by his children: Corey (Monica) Jones, Rico Jones, Carlito Jones, and the late Chauncey Jones. He was a proud grandfather to Armani, Ariana, Cora, Courtney, and Latisse; and a cherished great-grandfather of Amir. He is also survived by his dear brothers, Phillip (Carolyn) Jones and Gary (Engracia) Jones. Visitation will be Friday, February 23 from 3 pm until Sharing of Memories, 6 pm, at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd (4 blks E. of Woodward), Royal Oak, providing an opportunity for family, friends, and colleagues to honor his memory and pay their respects. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of love, devotion, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
