Horst Cawi Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Horst G. Cawi, On January 20, 2022, with sadness in our hearts, Horst Cawi passed away. He courageously fought pneumonia with complications and in the end it wasn't to be and it was his time to rest. He was born in Berlin, Germany on August 22, 1943 to Frank and Ilse Cawi. In 1956 he and his family including four sisters emigrated to Canada and made their home in Hamilton, Ontario. He attended high school in Dundas and went to college in California at Cal Poly. Horst later received his Bachelor's degree and his MBA in 1993 and 1999 respectively. He went on to have a long and rewarding career in both Canada and then the U.S. in various roles of purchasing. He retired in 2010 after a successful career in procurement at Bundy (TI group); Petri Corporation and Blue Cross Blue Shield where he handled multimillion dollar accounts. He loved to go fishing on Lake St.Clair from his boat Miss Conduct, he would find every chance to be on the water and enjoy nature and swimming and fishing. He often took his wife, his daughter, grandchildren and friends and family whenever he could. He loved going to wine country and many other places with his wife Linda. He also loved spending time with his daughter Katherine, Mike and the grandkids for holidays, trips to Disney and just being together. We miss the twinkle in your bright blue eyes, his positive attitude towards life, humor, intelligence, and every part of what made you such a remarkable man. He enjoyed watching football, and discussing games with his daughter. His hobbies were photography and building special things for his daughter Katherine and her family such as a dollhouse, birdhouses, a cradle and toy boxes. He is survived by his wife Linda (Dolinar), his daughters Caroline Thelen; Katherine (Mike ) Beaudoin and their children Ian, Bradley and Lauren. His sisters; Gisela Vert, Roswitha Matuschek, Barbara Cawi and Brigitte (Earl) Grover. His sister-in-law Edie Dolinar. As well as many family and friends who loved him. We will miss his warm smile and big bear hugs. God took him home much too soon. We will be honoring him with a memorial service on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Cherry Creek Golf Club, 52000 Cherry Creek Drive, Shelby Township, Michigan 48316.
